The VenueThe 2005 World SCRABBLE® Championship will be held on November 16–20 at the Marriott Regent's Park Hotel, 128 King Henry's Road, London NW3 3ST, +44 (0)20 7591 1556. The Marriott is close to Regent's Park and London Zoo and is a 15-minute train/bus ride from Central London. A special rate (room only) of £90 weekend and £110 weekday for a single room is available. Double rooms are £100 weekend £120 weekday. To obtain these rates, quote World Scrabble Championship and then SMRA (weekday) and/or SWRA (weekend). If you require breakfast, the cost is £20 extra per day. Reservations may be made through the Marriott online reservation web page or by calling any of the worldwide telephone numbers referred to in that page. Event rates are only available up to four weeks before the Championships: please make sure you book your room right away. There are several other hotels of various price ranges within walking distance. We will be providing buffet lunch only for all contestants and officials during the Championships. No other refreshments will be provided but there will be water stations in the playing room. Registration will be held at the hotel at 7 p.m. on the evening of Wednesday 16 November. It is obligatory that players register then. Tournament play begins on Thursday 17 November, concluding with the finals on Sunday 20 November. |
